First use

Flask with built-in and removable filter. You can use the product without filter just like a traditional flask. Before first use, rinse the bottle, top and filter with drinking water (3 x 1 minute). When using for the first time or whenever the filter is dry, fill the bottle with water, screw on the cap and leave to stand for a few minutes to prime the filter. Then draw in 5 quick sips to enable the water to flow.

Directions for use

Rinse your water bottle and the drinking water filter to remove dust and impurities.Fill the bottle with fresh water (avoid stale and stagnant water) from the best source available without polluting the teat or cap. The more clear and clean the water is before filtering (lack of impurities) the longer your filter will last.Be careful not to drink water that flows the length of your bottle when drinking. Make sure that the bottle is closed tightly.

Advice for use (continued)

Drink by inserting the teat into your mouth and pressing lightly on the body of the bottle to adjust the pressure and amount of water to drink.Your bottle no longer filters water when it reaches the end of its lifespan. If you can no longer suck the water, it is time to replace the part that contains the filter.Thoroughly dry your filter after use.

Filtration system

We chose a micro-filtration technology with a membrane (hollow fibre) that eliminates up to 99.9999% of bacteria (eg : Escherichia coli, Vibrio cholerae, etc.) as well as 99.9% of protozoan parasite cysts (eg: Cryptosporidium parvum, Giardia lamblia), organisms which cause illnesses passed on through water. This greatly reduces the risk of contracting diseases such as diarrhoea, dysentery or giardiasis.

Care tips

After each use, unscrew the cap, rinse the bottle, top and filter with drinking water and allow to dry thoroughly. Before washing the bottle, remove the filter.Do not put the filter in the dishwasher. Do not try to clean the fibres in the plastic housing. If in doubt, change the filter.

Storage advice

Store in a cool, clean and dry place after completely drying the product. If, when you reuse the filter, you find that the water no longer passes through it or only with great difficulty, here's what to do.Immerse the filter in clean, clear water for about 15 minutes to dissolve any dirt that may have stuck to the surface of the filter membrane. Then rinse the filter and leave it to dry.It should be back to its best.

Interesting alternative to other filter flasks

These bottles seem to be like gold dust to buy, always seem to be out of stock but I managed to get my hands on a couple of these recently. Generally speaking they do a good job although there is a slightly funny flavour from the bottle, doesn’t bother me but mrs wouldn’t drink from it at all. It filters water well and a reasonable rate and they have been easy to clean. I bought these flexible bottles because sometimes I’m limited on space fast packing and if I fill these to about 0.8-0.9L they fit nicely in to my side pockets of my bag where as 1l aluminium or plastic ones don’t fit well for me.

Could use some minor improvements, yet excellent

I’ve been using this for over a year now for camping, at festivals, and without the filter as my go to water bottle for bike rides and park hang outs. I love how it’s collapsible for easy transport. I’ve also put hot water in it, without the filter, to use as a hot compress. How versatile! It might need a little getting used to, in order to not spill sometimes. My only suggestion is to treat or change the strap material so that it doesn’t smell mildewy after it gets wet. I end up having to wash it in vinegar or lemon juice, then letting it dry in the sun.

A very useful bit of equipment

Used at the weekend for the first time and found it to be very good. The wide neck of the bottle makes for fast filling and flow rate through the filter is really good. It’s something that all hikers and backpackers should carry.
