Perfect bike for my kiddo

Sturdy and absolutely amazing bike for my 6 year old. She loves it and had it purchased in-store, so no hassles of building it :-)

Good Bike, Crap Brakes, redesign needed

I have to say the bike itself is very good and well made and my daughter loves it she got it for her Birthday just under 2 years ago, we bought it big so she would grow into it, but I have to say the braking system on it is total crap, I fully appreciate its a child's bike but for the sake of an extra £10-£20 they could put a descent braking system on it and id still pay the money for it, ever since we have gotten it ive had to tinker with the brakes on a weekly basis to get it to work right and it not because I dont know what im doing, they are just very poorly made and designed and no, ive not taken it back to the shop because I know they themselves could not make them work any better. Its a poor design and something Decathlon really needs to look at. one other small issue is the mud guards are just slightly too close to the tyres when u consider kids go into all kinds of mud with these bikes,, the wheels sometimes get clogged up. The gap between the tyre and the mudguard should be about 10mm more, especially at the end of the back mudguard and no u cant adjust them any more than I already have because the wire that goes to the wheel nuts cannot be altered in length. Ive been buying from Decathon for nearly 20 years now and have bot lots and lots of stuff from them and this is only the 2nd time ive had to write a poor review on their products.

4 year old birthday present

Great bike.

Lovely bike problems with front break

This bike is fantastic our daughter loves it and is able to cover a large distance thanks to the large wheels. The plastic brake system is great for smaller hands as the brakes are closer to the handles than traditional bikes meaning she can work them easily. Unfortunately the front brake seems to keep rubbing against the wheel rim which slows her down

No pedals

Bike turned up and when we opened it to wrap it for our daughters Christmas present we discovered there were no pedals in the box. This was the Sunday before Christmas. Waited(!) until the telephone support opened at midday (??!) But we're promised this would be delivered the next day by courier. We are still waiting and have had no response from Twitter requests. Terrible customer service but nice bike

It is so disappointing to hear that the bike arrived with no pedals. There is no excuse for this and I apologise for this issue.
The customer team sent a request on the 23rd of December to get another pair sent to you and they will investigate today why you have not received them and arrange further shipment if required. They will be in touch directly with you.

Front Brake Failed

Our 5 year old daughter used this bike for about 8 weeks. Within the first 4 weeks the front brake wire had come out of one side of the calipers. I fixed it, though noticed that the runner had bent slightly. This was with normal usage by a 4 year old. It seemed to be securely fixed (and again because she was only 4 so not exactly hammering it for miles on the road) so let her carry on with it. Yesterday the front brake failed again, only this time as she was heading down a sloping driveway towards a main road. She bumped over a grass verge and onto the road. Very fortunate that there was no collision and far more serious consequences. The bike had been checked in store and had absolutely typical usage. It was stored in a garage and otherwise well maintained.

Thank you for taking the time to review this bike. I'm sorry to read that there was an issue with the front brake. Please contact one of our loyalty team members or your local Decathlon store workshop who will gladly inspect the bike. If any parts are faulty and require replacement then this will be covered under warranty. This is the first feedback of this nature we have received regarding this bike.

Great bike, great price

My 6 year old daughter had just learned to ride without stabilisers on her old bike. As a reward she was promised a new bike. After much searching and looking at licenced bikes for similar or more money. It was clear this was the best quality for the price. Some great child friendly touches like the easy pull brakes and thinner handlebars for small hands. It rides really smooth and is clearly a ‘quality bike’ not just a cheap bike with Disney or Spider-Man stickers on it which equals expensive but poor quality. I think this will be the start of regular bike purchases as both my children grow.

B’TWIN 500 Docto Girl Bike

Our daughter loves this bike, bought it 6 weeks before her 4th birthday instead of a balance bike. She has stabilisers with it. Great advice in store as she would have outgrown the balance bike within months. I know people will say she should start on a balance bike but everybody in our family has managed to learn with the aid of stabilisers and it’s one less thing to have to ‘re-cycle’ before Christmas!!!

Additional Product informations

  • 100% Steel

Stop easy innovation: a patented braking system designed for children.

More accessible brakes and a more comfortable grip are the main benefits of our Stop Easy system. For more natural movement, the brake lever is pressed parallel to the handlebars. Whilst progressive, this innovative brake lever also provides 30% more braking power compared to a conventional brake lever. An innovation from our B'Twin team, loved by both parents and children.

What type of braking system is equipped?

Brake efficiently thanks to the two V-brake brake pads. These brakes are composed of callipers that exert more or less pressure on the rim to slow or stop the rotation of the wheels. To guarantee the availability of our bikes, on the Doctogirl model, the brake levers can be white or pink (photo non-binding).

Wheels / tyres

Tyres with inner tube (inflatable).

Can stabilisers be added?

Yes, if your child needs them. Our 16" B'Twin stabilisers are compatible with all our bikes in this size. Practical, they can be mounted and removed from the bike without tools.

What about comfort?

We've carefully considered children's morphology: the width of the handlebars and the diameter of the grips are sized for their small hands. The foam saddle provides a comfortable seat.

A bike that grows with the child

The saddle is height-adjustable (using a size 6 Allen key) so it can grow with your child. The saddle height can be adjusted from 48.5 and 60cm.Our bikes meet the Children's Bike standard (ISO 8098), which is why we cannot offer a tool-free (quick-release) saddle height adjustment system.

What is a guard for?

To prevent children from putting their fingers where they shouldn't, the mechanical elements of the drive train (crank, chain, freewheel, etc.) are surrounded by the guard. It also prevents the risk of laces getting caught and clothes being dirtied. The decorations are set into the plastic of the guard for greater durability.

What accessories are supplied with the bike?

A bell, front and rear light, wheel reflectors (reflective parts attached to the spokes).
