How to choose your inner tube
Check all the information indicated on the sidewall of the tyre (diameter and width). For example, 16 x 1.50 means your tyre is 16 inches in diameter and 1.50 inches wide.On the tyre sidewall you will also find the dimensions in mm in ETRTO international units. For example, 38-305 means a tyre that is 38mm wide and has an inner diameter of 305mm (approx. 16 x 1.50).
Removing an inner tube
Remove the old inner tube using a DECATHLON tyre lever.
Checks to carry out before installing an inner tube
Check the condition of your tyre and replace it if necessary.Make sure no objects are lodged in the tyre.Check the condition of your tyre rim strip.A rim strip that is even slightly bent can cause punctures.Check that your rim does not have any other issues that could damage your inner tube.
Fitting your inner tube
Watch our video before you start.Pre-inflate the inner tube slightly to avoid pinching.Insert the valve, making sure you are using the correct valve for your rim.Put the inner tube entirely inside the tyre so that it fits inside the rim.Take care not to pinch the inner tube when fitting.
Mounting the tyre
Start by mounting the tyre from the opposite side of the valveFinish at the top of the valve to avoid pinchingNever use a screwdriver or tyre lever to mount the tyre or you could pinch the inner tube and puncture it.
Inflating the tyre
Inflate your tyre carefully, to the pressure recommended by the manufacturer (visible on the tyre sidewall in PSI or bars, 1 bar = 14.51 PSI).Regularly check that your tyre is in the correct position as you inflate it.
Tip from the pros
To prevent any puncture from pinching and to achieve the best performance, we recommend checking and, if necessary, pumping up your front tyre before each ride.

Product Reviews
Radius of tube was a little small and had to be stretched to fit it onto a Brompton rim and then because it was tight against the rim, needs extra care not to puncture the tube by getting it trapped between the rim and the tyre when inflating the tube. Haven’t seen it in action yet as I haven’t had a puncture but LBS knackered one by letting the air out with the valve at the bottom and clogged up the valve so it looks like it should work. Took me ages to fit another one due to the tight fit but at least it was replaced in the comfort of my home rather than on the side of the road. As the effort is a hopefully one off and done in comfort to offset potentially having to do it in the rain on the side of the road it’s still a positive but ideally decathlon would make one more suitable to the Brompton … there aren’t many 16” bikes out there and Brompton are one of the better known ones.
