Why are the hand paddles slipping when you swim?

Do your hand paddles move? This information will help you to make progress! If the paddles tend to “pop off” your hands, then your movement can be improved. Concentrate on your sensations and how your hands or forearms come into contact with the water. You will soon find the ideal position for a more efficient and powerful stroke.

Directions for use

Hand paddles are an essential part of any swimmer’s equipment for working on the upper body (arms, shoulders, pectorals, back muscles) and improving arm movement. Here are a few tips to make the most of them: - Choose the right sized hand paddles. If this is your first time, do not choose a size that is too big. - Increase your efforts gradually. This is essential to protect your shoulders and make lasting progress.

Eco-design

This product has reduced its CO2 impact by 10% by using recycled materials.

How to use your hand paddles

There are two options available to you: 1 - Fasten the straps of your paddles around your wrists to get the most stability. This is the most recommended when beginning to use them. 2 - As you gain more experience, you can use the hand paddles without the wrist straps. The benefits? To help you feel your contact with the water better and find the right movement (because if you make the wrong move, the paddles could slip off of your hands).

Quick’in system

The patented and exclusive QUICK’IN system was designed and developed to make paddles easier to put on. It consists of a polypropylene wing and a piece of silicone attached under the surface of the paddles. The latter lets you adjust the height of the wing by pressing upwards, for optimal comfort and to keep the paddles in place while swimming.

Good paddles let down by small issue

I’ve had three pairs of these now. First ones split at the rubber part which holds the finger placement in place. Second pair were replaced under warranty and did the same thing unfortunately. I’m on the third pair now as I generally like these paddles as they’ve been great for my pull sets. I hope decathlon can sort this issue out and perhaps make the rubber part stronger.

Do the job

These are the second pair of these paddles I've owned after getting the first pair replaced under warranty. The rubbery bit that holds the finger piece in place and allows it to 'spring' split and then eventually failed completely so the finger piece came out. I'm now extra careful not to touch the wall with this bit when turning, which I think is what caused it to split before, instead using the lower part of my hand. In use they do a good job. They're my first pair of paddles so can't compare but they're a decent price, easy to put on and feel secure when swimming. I feel like I get a good workout using them. It would be nice if the strip was either a bit longer or there was a bit of a lip on the end of the strap to stop it coming out of the buckle.
