Fresh black technology for greater freshness and darkness in your tent

Cooler and darker for better sleep!Fresh & Black is a technology patented by Decathlon that allows us to reflect the sun's rays and insulate from the light thanks to specific materials. This reduces the sensation of heat in the tent and makes it darker.

Sun protection

Our Fresh&Black technology relies on a UPF 50+ sun protection fabric.Caution: be careful, as a large amount of UV rays can get in through a simple open door.

Ventilation

The ventilated flysheet on the living area airs the room and reduces condensation inside your tent. High ventilation hatches are placed at the front and rear of the tent. There is a mosquito net at the back of the bedroom.

Wind resistance

We test all our tents in a wind tunnel on a turntable. The aim is to expose each side of our tent to the same wind intensity.Properly pitched, with the guy ropes deployed, this tent remains habitable in wind speed 6, measured at 50 km/h.

Waterproofing

We test our tents to validate their waterproofing. The first test is done in the laboratory, 3 hours under 200 litres of water per hour per sqm, equivalent to 200 mm tropical rain per hour. The second test is done in the field under real-life conditions by our teams. This tent is fitted with a polyurethane-coated polyester flysheet measuring 2,000 mm. It also has seams that have been waterproofed with heat-sealed strips, and a 140 g/sqm polyethylene groundsheet.

Repair

As designers and users who love our natural playground, we care about the strength of our products. That's why all our tents are designed to be repairable. Spare parts and pole repairs are available at the workshop of your Decathlon store or on our website.

Poles and tent pegs

Poles - All our poles are made from fibreglass and undergo double quality checks. This guarantees some of the best resistance against breakage.Tent pegs - All our pegs are made of steel and have a diameter of 6 mm.

4 Man Blackout Tent With Poles - Arpenaz 4.1 F&B

Best Value, Spacious, Comfortable and Sturdy

I recommend the Arpenaz 4.1 Fresh & Black, it endured the UK Storm Antoni in August 2023, with up to 88 km per hour wind over 12 hours. The tent fabric did not rip, the poles flexed in the storm force winds. Additional 10 cm tent pegs secured the guy ropes and poles during the worst of the storm due to the sandy soil and exposed ground. The tent endured Storm Betty and other storms during the trip. One pole section incurred a small split, due to the prolonged extreme winds, we left this pole in situ with some duct tape for two weeks, note a spare pole was in the bag. The tent remained water and wind proof, it provided the best blackout sleeping experience, the well designed ventilation panels eliminated condensation and allowed good air flow giving a comfortable temperature inside. There is a window mesh vent on one side for the cooking table area - great idea. The Decathlon brand chairs, table, lamps and inflatable beds worked with the design and layout. Next time we would bring an extra mat or ground sheet for the living area to protect the ground sheet. This is a surprisingly good tent with unbelievable durability, comfort and value for money for the price.

Great value family tent

I bought this for me and my three kids to try camping, one of the poles was a little tricky to put in ( middle one ) but otherwise relatively simple to erect. Stayed dry though the rain and the blackout was brilliant meaning the tent didnt get too hot and the kids stayed asleep way past sunrise. Easy to pack away. I have had the 2second 2 xl for a number of years and it has lasted well, I will be very happy if this one lasts as long.

Excellent tent

I really love this tent, so easy to put up so easy to take down by myself. It’s hot in the sunshine but all tents are It’s black out inside isn’t really blackout but rather greatly reduces the amount of light inside the tent in the mornings, The sitting area is the perfect size for me my Mrs and my little boy of 2. I really recommend this product I can’t wait to use it again. I can’t comment on whether it’s leak proof as i have not used it in the rain yet
